Happy New Year, and welcome to the first entry in the Brian Mueller Creations blog! The new year is a great time to think about new beginnings and new possibilities. I have been thinking of creating a blog for a while, but always hesitate for various reasons - some creative, and some technical. I've decided to just START and see what comes of it. This desire was fueled by a great book, Austin Kleon's Show Your Work! Check out all his books, BTW - they are great, are quick reads, and are always inspiring!
It's easy to procrastinate with ideas, projects, and dreams, because we often feel we need to wait for the perfect moment, the perfect feeling, the perfect idea... but life rarely provides us with optimal circumstances. If you want to do something, the best way to get going is to just simply TAKE THE FIRST STEP (whatever that may be) and see where it leads. From that moment on, things are different - YOU HAVE STARTED. You are no longer thinking about it, you are already DOING it. Perhaps imperfectly, perhaps without a clear vision of where it is heading... but you have started!
So this is my first step toward doing more writing, sharing my thoughts, and perhaps creating a useful resource for musicians, students, teachers, artists, and anyone who is intrigued by the creative process. I have no idea what this will become, how it will develop, what I'll write about, how often, etc. And that is okay - that stuff doesn't really matter right now. The important thing is that I have STARTED. We'll see where it leads.
