Just Checking In

2/15/26

In the hustle of daily life, it's easy to lose sight of your long term goals. It's important to check in with your goals regularly - on a daily basis if possible. Write them down. Track your progress. This is a great way to not only stay motivated, but also keep an accurate snapshot of where you are in relation to where you want to be - so you can celebrate victories, and adjust your priorities if necessary to stay on track. Don't let the busyness of life prevent you from taking small steps toward big change - don't let the hustle cause you to become aimless. You might wake up in a month or a year (...or a decade) and realize you didn't make any progress on the things that mean the most to you.

This is where honesty is necessary - what do you really want to do? Who do you really want to be? You can't do everything and you can't be everybody - so it is worth spending some real time considering who you really want to be and what you really want to do. Be as specific as possible. Many people drift through life without any direction, without any passion, and without any aspiration, simply (only, always) reacting to what life throws at them without reserving some energy and time to throw something back at life. It takes genuine effort to avoid falling into this trap.

Once you have a clear idea of what you really want to accomplish, START. Don't wait for the perfect moment, the perfect feeling, or the perfect circumstances. Then, make a point of checking in regularly to avoid losing sight of what's important. There will be times when you feel discouraged and times when you want to quit. When this happens, don't be alarmed and most importantly, don't give up. Use these moments as opportunities to learn. Then: aim today at the horizon and take a new step forward.
